The finish also makes it easier for users to maintain, as accidental ink stains won't damage the wooden pen body. However, this technique incurs higher costs. Most finishes on the market are simply polished or waxed; such meticulous processing is exceptionally rare (natural grain, quality items shipped randomly). The fountain pen is paired with gunmetal grey electroplated metal fittings and a barrel-shaped, air-tight twist cap. It features an exclusively molded clip with a special spring mechanism, making it a joy to handle. Compared to the standard calligraphy titanium nib, it offers greater elasticity, allowing for richer expression. Hand-Ground and Adjusted Calligraphy Nib: 1. For calligraphy nibs, it is recommended to first dip the nib in ink for writing (do not remove the converter installed in the pen barrel; this prevents ink backflow into the pen body after writing). After a period of adjustment, use the ink converter for filling and writing. 2. The calligraphy nib is ground and adjusted from an EF nib to have a curved tip that produces varying line widths not solely by applying pressure, but by the angle of the pen hold. Utilizing the curvature of the nib's tip, line width variations are achieved. Holding the pen more upright, with less contact area between the nib and the paper, results in finer lines. Holding the pen at a more oblique angle or applying slight pressure increases the contact area between the nib and the paper, resulting in broader lines. The ability to write thick or thin lines depends on your proficiency (each nib has a certain tolerance for pressure; do not apply excessive force to avoid damaging or misaligning the nib. It is recommended to use a soft writing pad underneath the paper when writing). The custom-tuned titanium nib is a special titanium nib requested by Old Goat from the German manufacturer, imprinted with the 3952 Yushan LOGO. Its flexibility is softer and more elastic than standard titanium nibs, but it is less controllable. The custom-tuned nib's soft elasticity can lead to ink flow issues if pressure is applied incorrectly. If the user's technique is not proficient or they are unfamiliar with the custom-tuned nib's characteristics, it may cause temporary separation between the nib and the feed, disrupting ink supply and leading to skipping. If the user's grip angle is off and pressure is applied, it can distort the ink channel, hindering ink flow. Therefore, this nib is softer and more elastic, making it difficult to control. It is recommended to first master writing with steel nibs or standard titanium nibs before advancing to the custom-tuned nib.
