What is the wood firing process?** American, Japanese, and Miaoli clays are kneaded together in various proportions. The creation process uses pure hand-building (not a potter's wheel) to slowly form the shape. After basic shaping, the lines of the piece are refined, then polished to complete the greenware. Once loaded into the kiln, the wood firing process using natural longan and acacia wood continues uninterrupted for five days and four nights. The temperature reaches over 1200 degrees Celsius. During this time, natural ash deposits adhere to the work, forming a unique ash glaze. Simultaneously, the fire marks within the kiln flow between the pieces, creating beautiful orange-red or blue-purple fire patterns. After five days and four nights of ash and fire mark interplay, a week of cooling is required for each piece to achieve its beautiful form! What should esteemed guests be aware of?** Product colors may vary slightly due to photography lighting. As the works are purely handmade, they will bear traces of the hand-building process. Slight variations may also occur due to the firing process; uneven rims or minor crafting scratches are normal and do not affect usability.
