What is the wood firing process?** American, Japanese, and Miaoli clays are mixed in different proportions. The process involves hand-building (not on a potter's wheel) to gradually form the shape. After the basic form is established, the lines of the body are refined, followed by polishing to complete the greenware. Once placed in the kiln, the wood firing process using natural longan and acacia wood takes place continuously for five days and four nights, reaching temperatures exceeding 1200 degrees Celsius. During this time, natural ash deposits adhere to the pieces, forming a unique ash glaze. Simultaneously, the fire marks within the kiln flow between the pieces, creating beautiful orange-red or blue-purple patterns. After five days and four nights of ash deposits and fire marks intertwined, the pieces require a week to cool down before their exquisite form is revealed! What should our esteemed guests be aware of?** Product colors may vary slightly due to photographic lighting. Each piece is handcrafted, and will bear the natural textures of the making process. Slight variations may also occur due to the firing process; minor imperfections such as a slightly uneven rim or small marks from the crafting process are normal and do not affect usability.
