Eagle E740 Tutor Dip Pen Nib from the 1940s by American stationery manufacturer Eagle. The tip has been finely ground before leaving the factory for a smooth, easy writing experience. For reference, the ink used in the photos is a Lamy fountain pen ink (not shellac-based). The paper is Russ paper, known for its smooth surface and excellent water resistance. A Note on Vintage Nibs vs. Modern Nibs: These vintage nibs feature substantial metal construction and meticulous craftsmanship. Made from original metal (not plated), they are ready to write with immediately, requiring no extensive break-in period. They offer superior ink capacity and are designed for enhanced durability. Important Usage Guidelines: 1. There is no need to flame or scrub the nib with a toothbrush before use. 2. Some nibs may have horizontal or vertical scoring marks near the tip; these are factory marks made before shipment to ensure immediate usability upon purchase and are not defects. 3. If the nib becomes contaminated with oil, affecting ink flow (e.g., from touching with hands or from wax on paper), simply wash it gently with soap, rinse, and dry thoroughly before use. 4.
