A bracelet crafted by connecting ancient glazed quartz, ancient carnelian, ancient agate, Tuareg beads, dark blue beads, old Indian silver charms, old Orissa brass, and old Chin silver.
The ancient glazed quartz originates from Afghanistan and dates back to the Roman period, approximately 1500 years ago. Its glazed surface reveals subtle indigo specks, offering a smooth, almost melting appearance. Despite minor surface imperfections, this quartz is in remarkably good condition, free from significant chips.
(Ancient glazed quartz size: 1.2cm length, 0.9cm width, 0.8cm thickness)
The round carnelian beads are ancient finds from Afghanistan. The multi-faceted orange beads are also ancient carnelian, sourced from East Nepal, representing very old stone beads approximately 2000 years in age.
A single small ancient agate bead has been incorporated. This piece was unearthed in regions along the Indus River, such as Pakistan and India, and is also about 2000 years old. It showcases beautiful banding and is in excellent condition.
The multi-faceted beads featuring triangular and square patterns are from the Tuareg people, a nomadic group of the Sahara Desert in Africa.
The dark blue beads are antique beads known as Indo-Pacific beads. Their origins are traced back to the 2nd century BCE. These particular beads were excavated in Indonesia and date back to around the 10th century, making them over 1000 years old!
The charm on the clasp is antique Indian silver, crafted between the 19th and early 20th centuries. With frequent wear, it is expected to develop a unique patina. The central motif depicts the god Shiva (also known as Bhairava).
(Charm size: 1.8cm length, 1.4cm width - including the loop)
The beads with a dull golden hue and the charm next to the ancient carnelian are old Orissa brass from India. These brass beads are increasingly rare and highly sought after.
The plump,壺-shaped silver beads are exceptionally rare old Chin silver, dating from around the 18th-19th centuries. These are heirloom pieces from Burma, once used by Chin women in necklaces and other adornments. They bear a unique worn texture and endearing marks of time. Their substantial presence and gravitas are incomparable to modern silver (though modern pieces can also be striking). These antique beads have seen a significant increase in value in recent years.
The clasp and intermediate silver beads are Karen silver.
◇ Karen Silver ◇
This silver is crafted by a mountain ethnic group living in the Thai-Burmese border region. Each piece is handmade, and the silver is known for its exceptionally high purity.
With use, each bead will develop a beautiful luster!
The bracelet is strung on two waxed cords. While initially firm, they will become supple with wear.
