The Purple Day butterfly is a subspecies endemic to Taiwan, also known as the "Red-veined Yellow-banded Blue" due to its wing coloration. The underside of its wings is yellowish-brown, with orange, wavy patterns along the edges. It is commonly found in plains and low-altitude mountainous areas. The larvae feed on Polygonum chinense, and adults can be seen year-round, often found sipping nectar from wildflowers along roadsides, in considerable numbers. The wings are dusted with silver powder, creating a shimmering, fluttering sparkle by your ear. Total length approximately 3.1cm.
