Starfish Pottery Brooch

Starting with a sketch, the clay is shaped and molded. After a brief drying period, the process of refining the form is repeated several times. We prepare enough pieces to fill the kiln evenly, a process that takes about a month. First, the pieces are bisque fired for 7 hours. After removing them and wiping them with water, each one is individually glazed and then undergoes a final firing for 12 hours. For some pieces, gold glaze is applied, and they are returned to the kiln for another 7 hours. As they require a slow cooling process, we wait about two days after each firing before removing them from the kiln. Finally, each piece is inspected by hand, and the pin is attached to those that meet our standards. Currently, the success rate is around 70%. While this process requires considerable time and effort, the result is a decorative brooch that combines the tactile warmth of clay, the durability of pottery, the lustrous sheen of glaze, and the sparkle of gold accents. We believe this is an item that can be cherished for a long time, remaining a steadfast companion.
