Shi Hui Guan was born in Taoyuan, Taiwan, in 1951. In 1973, she graduated from the Department of Nursing at the National Taiwan University College of Medicine. She received a scholarship from the China Medical Board (CMB) and underwent one year of public health nursing training. The following year, she joined the Taiwan Provincial Institute of Public Health, where she engaged in teaching, demonstration, and research. In 1981, she resigned from public service and was ordained under Venerable Zhi Yu, focusing on the study of the Vinaya and Pure Land traditions, while dedicating significant effort to research and activities related to Master Hong Yi. She currently serves as an editor, secretary, and monastic educator at Xilian Pure Land Garden.
