The "Susiddhi Sutra" describes the making of scepters: "For all Vajra implements, use wood burned by heavenly fire (i.e., lightning). This principle is known to everyone, even in folk beliefs, where those who do evil are often cursed with "May heavenly lightning strike him!" Ancient people, through their interaction with nature, gradually realized the powerful energy imbued in lightning-struck wood after being struck by lightning. This energy can expel evil, punish wrongdoing, and maximize magical power.
