Ñandutí means "spider web" in the local Guaraní language. As the name suggests, it is a delicate handicraft made with threads. A base warp is set up, and patterns are created by weaving or knotting other threads onto it. The embroidery is stiffened with adhesive, and once the embroidered sections are detached from the fabric, Ñandutí is complete. When touched, it feels quite firm and rigid, maintaining its shape while retaining the soft texture of the threads.
