It's also known as "Ruyi Yu," "Grass Ball," or "Short-Haired Ball." Native to South America, its stem can grow to over ten centimeters, featuring more than ten distinct longitudinal ribs with spines. *Echinopsis brevispina* typically blooms at night, with its long, trumpet-shaped base reaching up to twenty centimeters. Its flowers are exceptionally beautiful, closely resembling those of the Queen of the Night cactus. The primary growing season for this cactus is summer, which is also its peak blooming period. The flowers have a short lifespan, opening around 6-7 PM and wilting by noon the next day. The blooms are large, pure white, and elegantly simple, emitting a delightful fragrance—a rarity among other cacti. Its upright posture, standing out like a crane among chickens, is likely the reason it's known as the "Queen of the Night" in Western countries. If the top of your *Echinopsis brevispina* appears greenish, it indicates a lack of light during cultivation. In such cases, placing it in a sunny spot is more suitable, otherwise, it may lead to etiolation and deform the plant. *Echinopsis brevispina* is very resilient. As long as watering is controlled and it's placed indoors during winter, it generally won't die. The main body readily produces offsets, which can easily take root and grow when simply placed on soil. | Habits | *Echinopsis brevispina* thrives in warm, sunny environments. It is drought-tolerant but not cold-hardy. It requires shade in summer and ample sunlight in winter, with an optimal temperature range of 18-30°C. | Watering | When first potted, do not water immediately. Mist 2-3 times daily.
