The first in the beginner-friendly series! Whenever a beginner student signs up for a regular crochet class and does not specify a specific piece to learn, Jiji recommends that the student start with Daruma. This is because it is one of the few pieces that allows students to learn two different starting methods in a single piece. In addition, Daruma means never falling and never giving up. It is one of the most representative mascots in Japan. Using it as the first piece for students to start crochet is also a very good idea.
After completing this course, if you are interested in continuing to learn different crochet techniques, you are welcome to join the regular crochet classes for in-depth learning. You can customize themes and freely learn your favorite fabrics.
Class content:
The instructor will gradually teach you the basic techniques of crochet, including:
Learn about basic tools and techniques: learn how to hold the crochet hook and yarn correctly, and master the most basic crochet gestures.
Learn how to start your first project: learn how to read crochet diagrams and how to start a stitch. Little Daruma is one of the few projects that allows students to learn two different ways of starting a stitch in a single project. Students will be exposed to two different ways of starting a stitch: round and oval, which can lay a solid foundation for learning more complex projects in the future.
Master the core crochet stitches: The most commonly used basic stitches in learning crochet, which are also necessary to complete doll works: chain stitch, short stitch, short stitch increase stitch and short stitch decrease stitch.
Accessory Expression: Learn how to sew accessories such as the face onto the main body accurately, and master how to give the doll vivid expressions and unique body textures through detailed processing, and finally complete your own little Daruma.
