Paris Orsay Museum-Rossetti The Blue Bower Necklace

Dante Gabriel Rossetti was trained at the Royal Academy and was a founding member of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. He was not only a painter, but also a designer and poet . He was inspired by his companions and women in the family circle who posed for him, starting with his wife Elizabeth Sidal. Here, he portrays Fanny Cornforth, who shared his life after his wife died in 1862, wearing a brooch as a gift to William Morris Pendant of wife Jane Morris. Fanny Cornforth is the model for this striking image. The cornflower in front is her name, and passionflower is her fiery character. But compared to portraits, images are more like hymns to beauty. Bower is a private place for couples, Rossetti decorated it with exotic elements, suitable for frank and passionate encounters. The tiles combine oriental sakura motifs and Arabic shapes, and the front is a Japanese stringed instrument zither. Everything is portrayed with attention to detail before Raphael’s party. This painting is collected by the Barber Art Center in Birmingham, England.
