Vegetable-tanned leather is known for its firm and durable texture. The surface color gradually darkens. Combined with the natural oils from your hands and the friction from daily use, it develops a lustrous patina, allowing leather goods made from vegetable-tanned leather to transform uniquely with time and user habits. Leather is merely a byproduct of the livestock industry. Therefore, farmers do not pay special attention to protecting the cattle's skin. As a result, during their lives, cattle may experience insect bites, scratches, or puncture wounds. Free-roaming cattle may also have branding marks. As they grow, they develop growth lines and wrinkles. If a cow has a difficult birth, there may be surgical scars. When the cattle are large enough to be processed for meat, the skinning process can also cause knife marks. These marks are faithfully preserved on the leather when it is transformed into cowhide, serving as proof of the animal's life. However, this often diminishes its natural character. At DOZI Leather Workshop, unless the marks are excessively large, we do not specifically avoid using leather with these natural traces of the cow's life. Therefore, this service cannot be applied to dark-colored leathers such as black, dark blue, etc. ▴ Some products require laser engraving before production. Ready-made items cannot be laser engraved and must be scheduled for separate production. Please contact customer service for production timelines when selecting this service. 🌞 Care and Maintenance -------------------- Frequent use is the best form of maintenance. It is advisable to avoid storing leather in humid environments. If the leather accidentally gets wet, wipe it immediately with a dry cloth and allow it to air dry in a cool, well-ventilated area. Do not expose it to direct sunlight, as this can cause the leather to harden and deteriorate. Once dry, you can apply leather conditioner to replenish the leather's oils. Alternatively, you can spray a waterproof protector onto the surface to guard against accidental spills and enhance surface protection. If the leather item needs to be stored or will not be used for an extended period, place it in an electronic dehumidifier with humidity controlled between 50%-60% to prevent mold. Alternatively, a sealed bag with a desiccant pack can achieve the same effect. After one year, we continue to offer free leather maintenance, with a nominal charge for repairs. 5. Our studio prefers to use natural leather materials. Cowhide typically has minimal processing, such as surface grinding, and does not have heavy surface coatings. Therefore, slight variations in color, texture, and minor scratches are to be expected. If you require a flawless, pristine leather surface, it may be difficult for us to meet this expectation, and we regret that we cannot accept requests for "flawless leather surfaces." Additionally, once personalization services such as engraving or laser marking have been applied, returns will not be accepted unless there was a manufacturing error.
