As the renowned Hong Kong lyricist Lin Xi once said, "The existence of ghost stories is what makes Hong Kong precious." Local ghost legends often reflect the social conditions, prevailing attitudes, and unique historical backgrounds of their time, making them worthy of documentation and preservation. Through this collection of a century's worth of Hong Kong folk ghost tales, we hope to explore Hong Kong's rich history, culture, and identity with you. "Ghosts" uses "Shokugan" (snack toy) stickers as a medium to interpret Hong Kong's ghost legends. This type of sticker first appeared in Japanese snack packaging in 1977, typically measuring 4.8 x 4.8cm, and was commonly referred to as "chocolate biscuit stickers," "Shokugan stickers," or "biscuit stickers." In the 80s and 90s, Hong Kong was heavily influenced by Japanese pop culture, and these "Shokugan stickers" hold collective childhood memories for many Hongkongers. We have systematically compiled 100 ghost stories and combined them with Shokugan stickers to create a new medium, visually documenting a "Compendium of Yokai" for the people of Hong Kong. The project will release 100 Shokugan stickers themed around Hong Kong ghost legends. For each story, we've created a unique yokai character with a brief description. The stickers feature special printing effects such as laser holography, hot stamping (gold and silver), to enhance the collectibility of "A Hundred Ghosts of Hong Kong." The "A Hundred Ghosts of Hong Kong" sticker series compiles local ghost stories, brought to life with original illustrations and text that vividly portray mysterious events.
