It can come into contact with water, but keeping it dry is recommended to slow down oxidation. The color will gradually shift from a bright gold to a darker, antique bronze. ▴ Lightly oxidized brass can be gently brushed with toothpaste and water, or polished with a brass cleaning cloth.
