The Origin of Magatama and Izumo-style Magatama Magatama have appeared in Japan since the Kofun period, over 5,000 years ago. The Izumo-style Magatama originated in the Yayoi period, 2,600 years ago. The production of Izumo-style Magatama was discontinued during the Heian period. After being lost for 900 years, it was revived during the Edo period when Sen'yū Itō from the Izumo region acquired and passed down the knowledge and techniques of its creation, preserving it to this day. The Izumo-style possesses a unique gentle, rounded, and balanced form, reflecting the pursuit of shape and beauty of the people at that time. These are the colors we collected during our journeys in Kyoto. We translate them into our gear, creating pieces for adventurers who share a love for this land. The first item in the series is the Wanderer Bracelet, crafted using traditional braiding techniques with over ten strands of pure cotton colored threads. Due to the multitude of colors, even if each bracelet uses the same colors, the proportion and distribution of colors will differ after the intricate braiding process. Diverging from previous designs, the Wanderer Bracelet expresses a spontaneous, free-spirited, and untamed attitude.
