Roman Glass, Blue Beads, Bohemian Beads, Granulated Brass, Indian Silver, Lapis and African Brass Glasses Cord

This is a glasses cord (eyewear chain) strung with Roman glass, blue beads, Bohemian beads, granulated brass, Indian silver, lapis lazuli, and African brass. Roman glass dates back to the Roman Empire (27 BCE - 395 CE). These pieces were originally bangles that have broken, and are now used as beads, so they have a slight curve. The Roman glass features charming raised patterns in white and yellow. As these are antique items, there are small chips. Each bead has a unique expression. The clear, oval and round beads are Bohemian beads from the early 20th century. They have scratches from age, but these imperfections contribute to their wonderful atmosphere! Air bubbles can be seen within the beads. (Bohemian bead size: 0.9cm width, 0.65cm diameter) The granulated beads are brass beads made by the Benin people of Africa. They are incredibly finely crafted! The oval tube-shaped brass beads come from Africa. The silver beads, featuring floral patterns on both sides, are from India. Their age and silver content are unknown, but they are truly lovely beads. The blue beads are antique beads known as Indo-Pacific beads. The origins of Indo-Pacific beads are said to date back to the 2nd century BCE. These particular beads are artifacts excavated from Indonesia, dating as far back as the 10th century – over 1000 years old! The small beads on the clasp are Karen silver. ◇ Karen Silver ◇ This silver is crafted by a hill tribe living in Thai Burma. Each piece is handmade, and it is said to have a very high purity. The oval brass beads come from Africa.
