Recently, I've been tidying up my studio and found some leftover fabric scraps from cutting. Since they were all patterns I loved, I couldn't bear to throw them away. Yet, seeing them piled up in a drawer felt like a waste. I pondered for a long time about what to create with them. Coincidentally, I watched a Japanese TV show, "The Ones Who Got Home," which featured the story of a young woman who "lived in the 80s."
At the Shimokitazawa Station in Tokyo, in the early morning hours, Ms. Mari, with her distinctive hairstyle and fashion sense, stood out from the crowd, appearing as if she had traveled through time. As the film crew followed her home, they discovered that it wasn't just her attire; stepping into her home felt like stepping back into the Showa era.
When asked by the crew, "Does this style and interest make you popular with the opposite sex?" Ms. Mari smiled and replied, "Not really, but I don't want to change for that. Rather than conforming to societal expectations and catering to others' preferences and trends, I'd rather do what I love. That's how one truly lives a happy life!" As she spoke, her eyes sparkled with a radiant light.
