Before his passing, Master Hong Yi sent a contemplative verse to his dear friend Xia Jianzun and his accomplished disciple Liu Zhiping: "The friendship between gentlemen is as subtle as water; seeking through form, one finds distance within closeness. If you ask my aim, I forget words in vastness; branches bloom in spring, the heart of heaven and the moon are full." This verse encapsulates his serene and fulfilled life, leaving behind an eternal legacy of contemplation and admiration for posterity.
