Thank you. *Echinopsis chamaecereus*, commonly known as the short-haired cactus, belongs to the Echinopsis genus. It is a variation of *Echinopsis eyriesii*, also called "Ruyi Jade," "Grass Ball," or "Short-haired Ball." Originally from South America, its stems can reach over ten centimeters. The stems feature more than ten distinct longitudinal ribs, adorned with spines. The short-haired cactus typically blooms at night, with its flowers having a long, trumpet-like tube at the base, which can extend up to twenty centimeters. Its flowers are exceptionally beautiful, closely resembling those of the Queen of the Night cactus. The primary growing season for this cactus is summer, which is also its peak flowering period. The blooms are short-lived, opening around 6 or 7 PM and wilting by noon the following day. The flowers are large, pure white, and elegantly simple, emitting a delicate fragrance—a trait not commonly found in other cacti. Its upright posture gives it a distinguished air, earning it the nickname "Night Queen" in Europe and America. If the tip of your short-haired cactus appears slightly greenish, it indicates a lack of sufficient light during its growth. In such cases, relocating it to a sunnier spot will be more beneficial, as insufficient light can lead to etiolation, causing the plant to become deformed. The short-haired cactus is incredibly resilient. With controlled watering and overwintering indoors, it typically thrives. The main body readily produces offsets, and a single detached piece placed on soil can easily take root. 【Habits】 The short-haired cactus thrives in warm, sunny environments. It is drought-tolerant but cannot withstand cold. It requires shade in summer and ample sunlight in winter. The ideal temperature range is 18-30°C. 【Watering】 Avoid watering immediately after repotting. Mist the plant 2-3 times daily for the first two weeks. Water sparingly after half a month, and gradually increase the amount of water only after new roots have emerged within a month. Adhere to the principle of "water when dry." Water only when the soil surface is dry, ensuring adequate moisture without waterlogging the pot. 【Fertilizing】 During its growing season, you can fertilize the short-haired cactus once a month with a succulent nutrient solution. Overwatering and excessive fertilization can lead to stem etiolation and deformation, shorter spines, and reduced flowering. 📝 Key Care Notes: Prefers warmth but shade in summer, drought-tolerant but not frost-hardy.
