In 2018, "Wo Si Wen Chuang," Taiwan's sole specialized card retailer, earned the favor of Japan's Shoyeido, becoming their official distributor in Taiwan. This marked a unique precedent as the only card shop globally to achieve such a partnership.
Founded in Hōei 2 (1705) in Kyoto, Japan, the renowned incense purveyor, Shoyeido, boasts over three centuries of heritage, now passed down to the twelfth generation. They continue to meticulously craft incense using traditional methods and natural ingredients. Many distinguished Kyoto temples, including Kinkaku-ji, Ginkaku-ji, Tō-ji, and Kiyomizu-dera, exclusively use Shoyeido's incense sticks. The incense souvenirs you purchase at these temples are also carefully produced by Shoyeido. All incense products are handmade in their Kyoto workshops, adhering to ancient techniques. Furthermore, Shoyeido's entire range of products, from incense burners to small incense holders and personal sachet charms, are manufactured in Japan, utilizing only the finest materials.
Despite Shoyeido's considerable renown both in Japan and internationally, they maintain a selective distribution strategy, operating only nine directly managed stores across Japan and deliberately avoiding franchise systems to expand sales volume. This ensures the highest quality in both products and services. For their global presence, Shoyeido rigorously vets each distributor's business philosophy and approach, strictly limiting the number of official distributors to preserve their century-old reputation.
While incense sticks do not have an expiration date, to ensure enthusiasts in Taiwan can experience the freshest incense, Wo Si Wen Chuang employs a small-batch ordering system. They place orders every two months, with shipments directly from their Kyoto headquarters to Taipei, guaranteeing the optimal quality of the incense. Through this collaborative relationship built on trust with their headquarters, Wo Si Wen Chuang is among the select few distributors authorized to offer Shoyeido's overseas limited edition incense and Japan-exclusive products.
Consequently, Wo Si Wen Chuang has introduced nine distinct product lines, encompassing nearly eighty different types of incense, alongside an array of related items such as incense stands, dishes, and burners—exceeding sixty varieties. This allows you to explore a wide selection of Shoyeido incense products without needing to travel to Kyoto.
