Inner circumference 16 cm. 1- Six large-sized Dalong prayer beads from a collapsed pagoda in Mandalay, Myanmar. Dating based on accompanying excavated artifacts suggests an origin in the 18th-19th century. These are Dalong prayer beads in the form of drilled rosary beads. Made of copper alloy with gold content, though not in high proportions. The oxidized patina has been cleaned off. The beads appear bright yellow when photographed, but will oxidize and darken over time if not polished. The largest beads have an average diameter of 1.1-1.2 cm. These rosary-style prayer beads were typically incorporated into strings of 108 beads within pagodas... Due to the humid conditions within the pagoda, the original threads have long since decomposed. Dalong prayer beads are smelted with cinnabar. Possessing a powerful magnetic field, they are believed to suppress malevolent entities and ward off evil spirits.
