Mandy Maria has lived in Glasgow for the past 20 years. But her upbringing in north-east Scotland remains with her and serves as a continuing source of inspiration for her as an artist: “I had a lot of spectacular countryside close to home. This ability was put to good use as she wanted to work more on location: “In an unpredictable climate, speed is of the essence. The pastels I use are very fragile and the contrast in the rugged scenes I create creates A lovely interaction,” she explains and continues: “It’s finding the softness in something so hard and unpopular.” Ultimately, Mandy Maria hopes to convey some of the beauty and adventure of her surroundings.
