Paul Cézanne was a famous French painter with a style between impressionism and cubism. His work laid the foundation for the transformation of 19th century art concepts to 20th century art styles. His work has an important influence on Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso. He used a very cohesive painting method and his works, especially those from his first solo exhibition in 1895 and the official retrospective in 1907, profoundly influenced and revolutionized 20th century art.
