Gold-filled signifies a thick layer of gold applied to a base metal under high pressure, making it more resistant to fading than contemporary gold-plated items. The heart-shaped locket features intricate openwork rose designs on its front. The botanical motif aligns with the Art Nouveau era's inspiration from nature, with delicately rendered, unfurled buds and leaves showcasing simple yet lively details. The interior of the locket is adorned with a full surface of deep indigo enamel, tinged with violet hues. This serves as a rich backdrop, visible through the openwork rose branches.
