**Japanese Prayer Beads (数珠・じゅず)**
Among Japanese prayer beads, a common style is the "Katatejuzu (かたてじゅず)," meaning prayer beads designed to be naturally held in one hand, serving as a personal protective item for daily use and formal occasions.
Japanese prayer beads are portable protective objects rooted in Buddhist culture and deeply integrated into Japanese daily etiquette. Unlike the 108-bead malas common in Southeast Asian or Tibetan Buddhism, Japanese prayer beads do not have a fixed number of beads or format. They often feature a "double-ring" or "single-ring" design, characterized by bead arrangements complemented by a tassel symbolizing prayers (made of pure silk, 正絹 しょうけん, or rayon, 人絹 じんけん), intricately woven to embody a serene and understated Japanese aesthetic.
In Japan, Juzu are considered "etiquette items" and are meant to be **"held" rather than worn on the wrist**. From children to elders, people of all ages carry Juzu on various occasions to express solemnity and offer prayers:
**Shrine Visits**: Praying for peace, health, and good fortune.
**Temple Visits**: Expressing reverence and seeking blessings.
**Celebrations (Joyful Occasions)**: Weddings, prayers for safe childbirth, etc.
**Mourning (Funerals, Memorial Services)**: An essential item in Japanese society, considered basic etiquette.
**As a Daily Protective Charm**: Carried in a bag for personal protection.
The Japanese understanding of prayer beads extends beyond religion; they are seen as a "symbol of spiritual tranquility" and "etiquette," representing peace, protection, purity of mind, self-stability, prayers for good luck and smooth progress, and expressions of gratitude and respect.
Japanese households typically own at least one set of prayer beads, and many people use the same set from youth to old age. In recent years, Japanese prayer beads, with their understated and elegant design and traditional cultural aesthetic, have also become popular among younger generations and overseas travelers. They can be found in Japanese department stores, traditional Kyoto shops, and around shrines, retaining their traditional style while also being perfect as travel souvenirs and gifts.
**Rose Quartz**
Rose Quartz, also known as蔷薇水晶 or Fuchsite Quartz, is considered top-grade when exhibiting a six-rayed star, which is quite rare.
According to Greek mythology, Aphrodite, the goddess of love, gave a rose quartz bracelet to the young Paris. As Paris grew, he led a large fleet to Sparta for negotiations and met Helen, the most beautiful woman in the world at that time. Helen was also irresistibly captivated by the handsome Prince Paris. Paris then brought Helen back to Troy, where they held a grand wedding and became husband and wife. Therefore, it is believed that rose quartz can attract good interpersonal relationships and love.

**◈ About Use and Care**
1. Natural gemstones possess natural luster and unique textures (such as tiny black spots, internal lines, ice cracks, cloudiness, mineral inclusions, asymmetry, and other natural details). With frequent wear, you will observe subtle color changes in natural gemstones, which typically become more translucent and captivating, serving as the best form of care.
Natural organic gemstones (such as coral, amber, pearls, and tridacna) have low hardness and are sensitive to acids and alkalis. When soiled, avoid cleaning with detergents. Simply rinse with clean water and wipe with a soft cloth. You may also use a soft brush dipped in a small amount of mineral oil (such as baby oil) for gentle polishing and care.
2. Metal jewelry has a long lifespan, but avoid external damage or strong acids and alkalis that can cause fading.
3. Fabric items (ribbons, cotton, gauze) are soft and comfortable to the touch and have a long lifespan, but avoid high temperatures, external damage, or strong acids and alkalis that can cause fading.
4. For any jewelry, when soiled, wipe with a soft cloth dampened with clean water as appropriate, or use a suitable amount of neutral detergent for suitable materials. After washing, dry promptly.
5. When jewelry is removed, it should be properly packaged and stored, shielded from excess air to slow down oxidation and discoloration, and avoid overlapping or heavy pressure.
