Sake tokkuri/vase

This wheel-thrown tokkuri was made in my small pottery workshop here in Taiwan. I used local Taiwanese clay and glazed the piece with a glossy black. I dusted Taiwanese wood ash over the pot, adding a second layer of speckled purple 'stars'. I believe it has a feeling of looking into the midnight sky and star gazing. While still wet I used my hands to distort the clay on one side. I did this to show the hand of the maker but also add pouring comfort. It also serves as a 'front' to the piece.
