These are SDGs jewelry pieces featuring Kintsugi, upcycled from ceramics by Fukukukama, a pottery studio in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture, known for its Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki. We reuse broken or chipped pottery that would otherwise be discarded, applying Kintsugi to transform them into accessories. Our concept is to create modern accessories that connect to the future, allowing people to feel closer to nature and Japan's enduring traditions, thereby fostering new possibilities. Delicate freshwater pearls are paired with elegant grey and white pottery shards. The pearls gently sway with movement, adding a touch of refined grace. Kintsugi is applied to the sides of the pottery fragments, allowing the gleam of gold to be admired from all angles, enhancing the overall sense of sophistication. These pieces are perfect as a unique accent for both casual and elegant outfits. This work uses a modern, simplified Kintsugi method. Unlike traditional Kintsugi using natural lacquer derived from the urushi tree, this process uses adhesive for the primary bonding.
