Brass Care Instructions: Brass has long been a popular material for jewelry due to its affordability and resistance to fading. However, like silver, brass can oxidize over time, darkening in color due to exposure to water, sweat, and air. While some appreciate this natural patina, if you wish to maintain its original luster, please take note of the following: ♦ Avoid contact with water. ♦ Store in a resealable bag when not being worn. If the luster appears dull, here are a few simple methods to restore your item to its former brilliance. Please note that if the item is scratched, while the color can be restored, the shine may not be fully recovered (the matte bronze finish of vintage pieces is also quite beautiful!). ♦ Dip a toothbrush in a small amount of foaming toothpaste or tooth powder and gently scrub the brass as you would your teeth to restore its shine. Be sure to dry thoroughly afterward. ♦ Use a silver polishing cloth for a quick and bright shine (not applicable to brushed finishes). ♦ Dilute some lemon juice and soak the brass jewelry in it for approximately 5 minutes for a rapid shine restoration (not suitable for natural beads like pearls that are sensitive to acid).
