Vegetable tanning is one of the oldest tanning methods, utilizing tanning agents extracted from plants, such as tannins. This process involves repeatedly soaking the hide in tanning solutions of varying concentrations over one to two months. Vegetable-tanned leather is free from harmful chemicals like heavy metals, making it safe for direct skin contact. It also preserves the natural grain of the leather.
