**Artist Biography: Xie Zhong-Ren**
1973: Born in Fangyuan Township, Changhua County, Taiwan.
1988: Began studying jade carving in Taipei.
1993: Integrated design concepts into his work after studying advertising design.
1994: Established his own studio.
2000: Awarded an honorable mention in the craft category at the 14th Nan Ying Art Exhibition for his piece "Lurking." Exhibited in a group jade exhibition at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall.
2001: Invited to participate in the Hualien International Art Festival, demonstrating live carving in the local creation zone.
2002: Selected for the "Dream of Craft" award at the 10th Taiwan Craft Design Competition. Participated in a jade exhibition at the Hsinchu County Cultural Affairs Bureau. Featured in a jade carving exhibition at the "Flower and Tree Carnival" in Changhua County. Invited to the "Grand View of Stones" exhibition, a collaborative event by the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Cultural Foundation and Hualien Cultural Affairs Bureau, with exhibitions across Taiwan.
2003: Invited by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute to exhibit works such as "Lotus Ecological Charm" at the Presidential Office's "Taitung Local Craft Exhibition."
2004: Featured in the "Arts and Humanities Corridor - Xie Zhong-Ren Jade Stone Carving Exhibition" on National Education Radio. Received an honorable mention at the 12th Taiwan Craft Design Competition's "Dream of Craft." Held a solo exhibition at the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall.
2005: Invited by the National Taiwan Museum to exhibit his work "Taiwanese Delicacies - Braised Pork Rice." Participated in the "Sherlock Holmes Exhibition" with the National Museum of the Czech Republic. Launched the "Yu Ning Shi" brand and opened counters in department stores. Exhibited as a "Craft Master" at Pacific Sogo Department Store.
2007: Invited to participate in the "Craft Zero Distance - Application of Life Crafts" exhibition at the Executive Yuan Gallery, hosted by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute.
2008: His work "Japanese-style Nigiri Sushi" was selected for the "Taiwan Craft Competition" by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute.
2012: Received an honorable mention in the Traditional Craft category at the Ministry of Culture and National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute's "Taiwan Craft Competition" for his piece "Half Thought." His work "Ling Jing Mountain and Water" received an honorable mention in the craft category at the 21st Tainan City Nan Ying Award.
2013: Invited to exhibit in the "Cross-Strait Jade Carving Masters Exchange" exhibition at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, showcasing his work in the Taiwanese Jade Master area.
2016: Invited by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute to exhibit three pieces – "Japanese-style Nigiri Sushi," "Handmade Mini Mochi," and "A Moment of Leap" – at the Presidential Office Gallery's "Hearth - Sustainable Craft Exhibition."
2017: His work "Remnant Lotus Spring" received an honorable mention at the Taoyuan City Taoyuan Fine Arts Exhibition.
2018: Held a solo exhibition, "Xie Zhong-Ren Jade Carving 30 Years: Continuation of Culture," at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall.
2019: Invited by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute to exhibit his work "Auspicious Dragon Presents Greetings" at the Presidential Office Gallery's "'Feast · Happiness' Exhibition."
2020: Participated in the "Joyful Heart, Radiant Art - Taiwan Craft Development Association Boutique Exhibition," held concurrently at the Hsinchu County Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Taipei Contemporary Craft Design Branch of the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute.
2021: His work "Japanese-style Nigiri Sushi" was featured in the "Creative Regeneration Green Crafts" exhibition hosted by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute. His piece "Handmade Mini Mochi" was selected for the 2021 Taiwan Craft Competition and toured various locations including the Taipei Contemporary Craft Design Branch, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Xinyi Store, Tainan Ximen Store, and Taichung Store.
