Honeycomb Cypress Box / Pen Box

The fragmented cypress offcuts were nearing the point where they could no longer be repurposed. A vision of a photograph taken from a treetop sparked an idea. The small pieces of wood were cut into hexagonal shapes and then assembled to form a complete panel. Variations in wood thickness, color depth, and grain patterns create a scene reminiscent of a gathering of forest canopies.
