On the hardness scale, it is the second only to diamond (9 out of 10 on the Mohs scale!). Along with diamond, emerald and alexandrite, it belongs to the first group of gemstones. Translated from the ancient Greek, sapphire means "blue stone". But this does not mean that the blue colour is the stone's hallmark. Nature did not skimp on colours for a sapphire. The stone can be of all colours of the rainbow (yellow, green, pink, orange, purple). But not red; corundum of this colour is called "ruby". Although, in fact, it is the same mineral. Therefore, it is more correct to call them all in one word - corundum. Corundum is a stone of wisdom and royalty, often associated with sacred things, and considered the pearl of pearls that guides people to the enlightened path. It is believed to have healing properties that calm the mind, treat depression, and relieve headaches and eye problems. It heals the Throat Chakra and the Third Eye Chakra (Ajna), helping self- expression, and clarity.
