It has a satisfying thickness, making it comfortable to hold with a smooth rim. Beautiful crackles (kannyu) adorn the interior. Because the clay for the main body and the slip used for the inlay are different types, their shrinkage rates during firing vary. This can sometimes lead to the white clay not adhering perfectly in the recessed areas, a challenge that required numerous trials and considerable time to perfect.
