As a natural material processed with methods that minimize damage to the leather, it's common to find minor "scars," "wrinkles," or "vein marks." We carefully avoid these areas during cutting, or place them on less visible or non-stressed parts of the product. 2. Hand-Stitched Seams Our products are crafted entirely by hand, without the use of sewing machines. Before stitching, we use specialized diamond chisels to create precise holes in the leather, allowing for the distinctive wavy stitch pattern that sets our work apart from machine-sewn items. While this process significantly increases production time, it's an essential step in imbuing each leather piece with the soul and warm tactile quality of artisanal craftsmanship. 3. Hand-Burnished Edges Before completion, the leather edges are meticulously burnished and sealed. Our goal is to achieve a smooth, rounded, and natural finish. "Cutting Line" employs a unique edge-finishing technique: first, sandpaper is used to repeatedly smooth any sharp edges. Then, an edge sealant is applied to create a flat surface, repeated 2-3 times. Finally, an edge wax is applied and the surface is repeatedly burnished with a polishing tool until the edges achieve a silky smooth texture. 4. Hand-Dyed Leather For our hand-dyed products, "Cutting Line" uses imported Fiebing's leather alcohol dyes from the USA. To achieve a uniform and natural coloration, we begin by slightly dampening the leather surface. Then, using a sponge, we apply the dye repeatedly, building layers from light to deep until the desired hue is achieved. Once dry, a color-setting agent is applied to enhance colorfastness. We also gently wipe the surface with clean water to remove any dust and further even out the color. As each piece is dyed by hand, subtle variations in color will occur, making every item uniquely distinct.
