**About the Artist**
Born in 1973 in Fangyuan Township, Changhua County.
Began learning jade carving in Taipei in 1988.
Studied advertising design in vocational school in 1993, integrating design concepts into his work.
Established his own studio in 1994.
2000: Awarded an honorable mention in the craft category at the 14th Sanying Arts Exhibition for his work "Poised for Action." Participated in a joint jade exhibition at the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall in August.
2001: Invited to participate in the Hualien International Art Festival's local creation section for live carving demonstrations.
2002: Selected for the "Dream of Craftsmanship" award at the 10th Taiwan Craft Design Competition. Participated in a joint jade exhibition at the Hsinchu County Cultural Affairs Bureau in January. Exhibited jade carvings at the "Flowers and Trees Carnival" in Changhua County in May. Invited by the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Cultural Foundation and Hualien County Cultural Affairs Bureau to exhibit in the "Garden of Stone Wonders" exhibition across department stores in Northern, Central, and Southern Taiwan from October to December.
2003: Invited by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute to exhibit works such as "Lotus Ecological Charm" at the "Taitung Local Crafts Exhibition" in the Presidential Office.
2004: Featured in the National Education Radio's "Arts and Culture Corridor—Hsieh Chung-Jen Jade Carving Exhibition" from March to June. Received an honorable mention at the 12th Taiwan Craft Design Competition for "Dream of Craftsmanship." Held a solo exhibition at the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall from October to January 2005.
2005: Invited by the National Taiwan Museum to exhibit his work "Taiwanese Snacks - Braised Pork Rice." Participated in the "Sherlock Holmes Exhibition of Faces" alongside the National Museum of the Czech Republic from June to September. Launched the "Yu Ning Shi" brand and opened counters in department stores. Exhibited at the Pacific Sogo Department Store's "Craftsmanship Masters" event in mid-December.
2007: Invited to participate in the "Craftsmanship Zero Distance—Application of Living Crafts" exhibition at the Executive Yuan Art Gallery, organized by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute.
2008: His work "Japanese-Style Grilled Sushi" was selected for the "Taiwan Craft Competition" by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute.
2012: His work "Half-Thought" received an honorable mention in the traditional craft category at the "Taiwan Craft Competition" organized by the Ministry of Culture and the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute. His work "Tranquil Mountain Scenery" received an honorable mention in the craft category at the 21st Sanying Award in Tainan City.
2013: Invited to exhibit in the Taiwanese Jade Carving Masters section at the "Cross-Strait Jade Carving Exchange Gathering" exhibition at the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall.
2016: Invited by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute to exhibit works "Japanese-Style Grilled Sushi," "Handmade Mini Mochi," and "The Fleeting Moment" at the Presidential Office Art Gallery's "Gathering Around the Fire—Sustainable Craftsmanship Exhibition."
2017: His work "Lingering Lotus Spring Mood" received an honorable mention at the Taoyuan Arts Exhibition in Taoyuan City.
2018: Held his solo exhibition "Hsieh Chung-Jen Jade Carving 30 Years—Continuation of Culture" at the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall.
2019: Invited by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute to exhibit his work "Auspicious Dragon Brings Prosperity" at the Presidential Office Art Gallery's "Feast · Happiness" exhibition from January to June.
2020: Participated in the "Joyful Heart, Shining Art—Taiwanese Craft Development Association Boutique Exhibition," held jointly at the Hsinchu County Cultural Affairs Bureau (July 29 - August 16) and the Taipei Museum of Contemporary Craft and Design, National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute (October 6, 2020 - February 28, 2021).
2021: His work "Japanese-Style Grilled Sushi" was exhibited at the "Creative Regeneration Green Craftsmanship" exhibition organized by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute in October-November. His work "Handmade Mini Mochi" was selected for the 2021 Taiwan Craft Competition and toured at the Taipei Museum of Contemporary Craft and Design, National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute, and Shin Kong Mitsukoshi department stores in Xinyi, Tainan Ximen, and Taichung.
