Crystal Kristal body USSR SLR 35mm film camera KMZ M39 mount

Crystal (Кристалл), vintage Soviet SLR camera 35 mm, #6202_7685, M39 mount "KMZ" plant, Krasnogorsk, USSR, 1962 Good condition. Shutter works properly at 1/60 and shorter (at slower speeds curtains move very lazy). Self-timer works properly. Body has signs of use and age. Inside the viewfinder there is a very thin vertical black line and microdust. Left shutter curtain has abrasion cracks withlight leakage. Lens is not included, body only. Note: it is a camera with M39x1/45.2 mount. It is possible to set a lens from rangefinder camera with M39x1/28.8 (LTM), but it will not work. In 1961 and 1962 SLR camera "Сrystal" was made by Krasnogorsky Mechanical Plant named after Zverev (KMZ), Krasnogorsk, USSR. "Сrystal" has changed the first "Zenits": "Zenit", "Zenit-S" and "Zenit-3". It was planned to become the first model of the new family with the name "Crystal" ("Zenit-3" was planned to become the last camera with the name "Zenit"). Totally 65 433 pieced of "Crystal" were made. "Zenit-3m" was unified with rangefinder "Zorki-6": the same shutter, rear cover and film rewind mechanism. Both cameras had a cast aluminium solid body. Thus the camera did not need alignment: flange focal distance remained the same. "Crystal" had upper cover was cast too which made the production cheaper. Also release button, shutter lever and frame counter had one common axis, rear cover was removable on hinges, backwind button instead of switch on previous cameras appeared. Upper cover had enamel which was not typical for KMZ cameras. There was "Crystal-2" with built-in exposure meter, but it remained experimental. In 1962 camera got a stamped brass rear cover and new name - "Zenit-3m". It was produced up to 1970. Totally 716 245 pieces were made. Both cameras had the same characteristics. Flash synchronization ("X"), but there is no shoe for flash and self-timer. The only shutter speed when using flash is 1/30s. Shutter is horizontal, cloth, has shutter speeds: 1/30, 1/60, 1/125, 1/250, 1/500 and B. Viewfinder works when shutter is cocked (otherwise, the mirror is in upper position). It has size 20x28mm. Camera has 3/8" tripod socket. Default lenses are "Helios-44"(2/58), "Industar-50"(3.5/50). Camera can use standard film cassetes and dual cylinder cassettes from Leica.
