Brass Care Instructions: Brass has consistently been a favored material for jewelry due to its affordability and resistance to fading. However, much like silver, brass is susceptible to oxidation. Exposure to water, sweat, and air can cause its color to deepen. While some appreciate this natural patina, to maintain its original luster, please follow these guidelines: ♦ Avoid contact with water. ♦ When not being worn, store the item in its resealable bag. If the luster appears to fade, here are a few simple methods to restore your jewelry to its former brilliance. Please note that if the item has been scratched, while the color can be revived, the original shine may not be fully restored (the matte, antique bronze finish of vintage pieces is also quite beautiful!). ♦ Use a toothbrush with a small amount of foaming toothpaste or tooth powder and gently scrub as you would your teeth. This can help restore the brass's shine. Be sure to thoroughly dry the item afterward. ♦ Wiping with a silver polishing cloth can quickly restore shine (not suitable for brushed surfaces). ♦ Squeeze lemon juice, dilute it with water, and soak the brass jewelry for approximately 5 minutes for a quick shine restoration (not suitable for natural beads like pearls that are sensitive to acid).
