These Kintsugi SDG jewelry pieces are upcycled from ceramics made by Toshou Fukuoka, a potter based in Kumamoto Prefecture. Ceramics that are broken, chipped, or no longer in use are repurposed and mended with Kintsugi to create these accessories. The concept behind these creations is to bring the beauty of nature and Japan's enduring traditions closer to you, transforming them into modern accessories that connect to the future and unlock new possibilities. Deep green Oribe ware fragments are adorned with freshwater pearls. Kintsugi is applied to the sides of the pottery shards, allowing the gold to elegantly catch the light from every angle, adding a touch of refined grace. The accompanying chain is made of allergy-friendly surgical stainless steel with 18K coating, making it resistant to discoloration and gentle on the skin. The chain length is 40cm with an additional 5cm adjuster. This artwork utilizes a contemporary, simplified Kintsugi method. Unlike traditional Kintsugi which uses pure urushi (tree sap), this process incorporates adhesive for the initial bond.
