This is a single-flower vase crafted on a potter's wheel, featuring a slightly coarse white clay that allows the glaze colors to stand out. It has a form that is both rounded and streamlined. A glossy white glaze is applied to the upper portion, while a blue glaze reminiscent of the dawn sky adorns the lower half. The combination of the two glazes results in a vase that is both calming and refreshing. It is said that blue pottery pairs beautifully with colors such as white, yellow, and pink. Enjoy coordinating it with various plants like baby's breath, statice, billy buttons, and rose hips. All stages of production—from wedging the clay to shaping, trimming, drying, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing—are meticulously handcrafted in my studio, which is equipped with an electric potter's wheel and a medium-sized electric kiln. Due to the porous nature of ceramic ware, a waterproofing agent has been applied to prevent water leakage. We have confirmed that this waterproofing agent maintains its effectiveness for approximately 40 hours, but there is a possibility of slight moisture seeping from the base due to evaporating water. If this is a concern, placing a fabric coaster or mat underneath will ensure comfortable use. I explore various combinations of glazes and clays, constantly seeking better pairings, and create a diverse range of pottery in various colors and shapes.
