Taiwanese Shimpaku Juniper is the most climate-adapted juniper species found in Taiwan. Its deadwood (sharpened) is exceptionally hard and resistant to weathering and corrosion, allowing for a longer preservation. Furthermore, Taiwanese Shimpaku Juniper are typically cultivated in medium to large sizes. Specimens smaller than this are less common, and most do not feature intricate, detailed carving. Shimpaku Junipers have high light requirements. Full sun is ideal. If not available, at least half a day of sun is necessary. Watering: Shimpaku Junipers prefer distinct wet and dry cycles. As Akadama soil is used, you can gauge the soil's dryness by its color. When the soil color lightens, it indicates dryness. If only the surface layer is dry, watering is not yet needed. Wait until at least half the soil in the pot is dry before watering. Coniferous plants are relatively drought-tolerant, differing slightly from common flowering, fruiting, evergreen, and deciduous trees. Water thoroughly: Ensure water drains from the bottom of the pot to confirm thorough watering. This step can be repeated twice.
