About Copal Resin: I have previously encountered shamans from the true Inca tradition; their ritual incense is essentially White Copal. The name "Copal" originates from the Spanish word "copalli," meaning "incense," which reflects its use. Copal resin ranges in color from light yellow, orange, and red to white. This resin comes from tree species of the genus *Bursera*, which are similar to frankincense and myrrh. Trees that produce copal resin are found throughout the Americas. Copal is millions of years younger than true amber, yet it is difficult for an untrained eye to discern the difference. Some copal forms resemble amber, with most dating between 50 and 10,000 years old, while some amber can be millions of years old. Colombian copal resin is typically around 250 to 10,000 years old. Some scientists claim the oldest copal resin is 33,000 years old, found in Misunani, Japan. Place incense powder (e.g., sandalwood powder, palo santo powder) underneath and burn together with the powder. 2. Use charcoal tablets. You don't need to use a whole tablet at once; break off half or a quarter. Use a lighter to heat the charcoal tablet until it glows red (be very careful when burning, handling, or moving the charcoal with fire; do not get injured). Place your desired resin on the hot charcoal. A small amount of good quality resin is very fragrant. 3. Use an electric incense burner (ensure you use a metal tray, otherwise it will be difficult to clean).
