Hetian Jade is a metamorphic rock formed by the contact and metasomatism of magnesian marble and intermediate-acid magmatic rocks. It contains an aggregate of minerals such as tremolite, actinolite, and edenite. Its chemical composition is hydrated calcium magnesium silicate, with the chemical formula Ca2(Mg,Fe)5[Si8O22](OH)2. Its density ranges from 2.95-3.17, and its Mohs hardness is between 6.0-6.5. The main structure of Hetian Jade is metamorphic texture, including felt-like cryptocrystalline metamorphic texture, microfibrous-cryptocrystalline metamorphic texture, microfibrous milky metamorphic texture, micro-platy-cryptocrystalline metamorphic texture, micro-platy metamorphic texture, and micro-radial (zonal) metamorphic texture. It also includes less common residual fibrous texture and metasomatic coronitic texture. Although the mineral grains in Hetian Jade exhibit a certain degree of orientation, it is not strong. Occasionally, grains show undulatory extinction and plastic deformation. These indicate that the stress intensity of the metamorphic process was within the elastic limit of the minerals.
