We have consistently designed original wooden spoons for use with tea sets, as dessert dishes, fruit platters, or for display. The wooden spoon pendant was originally conceived as a distinctive accessory for our studio designers. However, it was so well-received by others that we decided to offer this series. Aged cypress wood is exceptionally difficult to source. **The aged wood in our studio comes from old furniture and beams from ancestral homes in our hometown.** Larger pieces are used for substantial creations, while only smaller wood sections are transformed into accessories. These are **limited edition custom pieces, representing the rebirth of treasured materials**. **Note: For custom-ordered wooden spoons, you may choose the natural wood color (which will develop a patina over time with handling and wear) or opt for us to apply edible walnut oil. Thank you! **> Cypress Wood** Cypress, alongside pine, is renowned as the **"king of all woods."** Wang Anshi, in his "Shuo Wen," explained that "cypress is like 'bo' (a numeral for 'head' or 'chief'), hence the character's composition with 'bai' (white)." This is how cypress wood got its name. Due to its high resin content, cypress wood dries slowly and possesses exceptional resistance to decay. Cypress trees grow very slowly; the two cypress trees in my childhood home have hardly changed in size even now. Consequently, cypress wood is finely textured, hard, with smooth, clear, and exquisite grain patterns, and a dignified natural color. Fresh cypress wood tends to be lighter in color. Aged cypress wood, however, has a deeper hue and a more mellow and pleasant aroma. **With the passage of time, its color deepens, imbuing it with an ancient and elegant aesthetic.** ∨ We firmly believe that "wood" is a material with inherent warmth, its colors and textures brimming with the stories of nature. Our consistent aspiration has been to blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, cherishing the intrinsic beauty of wood and bringing nature into everyday life.
