We created the “Karakami Clock” using themes that weave together the history of both “Under Tree Animal Motifs” and “Karakami Patterns.” The Tree of Life is a symbol of the earth and the sun, and animals and the zodiac animals gather there to receive its blessings. May the world where we respect and coexist with nature continue forever into the future... We named it the "Eternal Clock" made of Kyo Karakami paper. We will mark the present time together on patterns filled with wishes. ■ The Kyoto Karakami paper we use has gone through many processes and is very elaborately made. First, paint is applied to the entire paper using the "guhiki" method, and then the pattern is printed on top of it using multiple woodblocks, a total of seven times or more. The surface of the watch is slightly raised and elastic, so compared to a flat surface, you can enjoy the changes in appearance that occur depending on the degree of gloss. Karakami paper is also used on the back side. ■ The watch's "movement (machine)" is not the ticking type, but uses a smoothly moving "sweep shaft." The clock hands are made of walnut and are designed to match the image of each animal.
