The distinctive leather hinge is the result of our proprietary research and manufacturing method. It involves complex cutting and shaping, followed by meticulous manual shaving and adjustment of each "tooth" to achieve a precise interlocking fit. The benefits of this hinge extend beyond its unique appearance. It opens completely flat, so it won't accidentally close due to creases. The hinge area is also designed to withstand repeated opening and closing without significant wear and tear. The material is a substantial 2mm thick vegetable-tanned cowhide, known for developing a rich patina over time. The smooth, lustrous surface is a characteristic of aniline-finished leather. The A5 size is the largest, often considered ideal for business use. With a 15mm ring diameter, it comfortably holds approximately 100 sheets of specialized paper. To ensure you can start using it immediately, we've included 50 sheets of our preferred "Études Co. Organiser Refill A5RF-G-01" 5mm grid paper. This thoughtful inclusion allows beginners to start right away and seasoned users to have a practical amount. We encourage you to customize your notebook by combining it with various commercially available papers, diaries, indexes, and clear pockets to create a planner that is uniquely yours. For maintenance, use a delicate cream sparingly. As this notebook is not subjected to the same stresses as bags or shoes, the natural oils from your hands are often sufficient. In fact, be cautious of over-applying leather creams or oils. The metal binding rings are screwed in place for easy replacement if damaged. This is a fine vegetable-tanned (full vegetable tanning) cowhide, processed using tanning agents extracted from mimosa bark, without the use of harmful chemicals.
