In April of this year, during a bouldering accident, I suffered a Grade 2 ligament tear in my ankle. Summer was just around the corner, and I was ready to hit the waves, but my life suddenly plunged into a long, dark period. I couldn't go out, couldn't move freely, couldn't shop, couldn't exercise. As someone who cherishes freedom, it was truly agonizing. For a long time, I cried, visited clinics, underwent physical therapy, and attended counseling. I even swore, "I'll never go bouldering again in this lifetime" (and I still feel that way six months later 🤣). Suddenly, life felt devoid of motivation. I didn't want to work, didn't want to do anything. I kept asking why, why this happened to me, why I was so unlucky? But as time slowly moved forward, the diligent rehabilitation I practiced every day actually started to work. My ankle was genuinely getting better! (Of course?) A while ago, I posted a story asking if people around the age of 30 experienced a lack of motivation in life. The response was that about 70% of people felt the same way! I wondered if it was the injury, or if it was simply turning 30, a time when people start to feel uncertain about life and generally experience a dip in motivation? Perhaps the injury just happened to occur, allowing me to discover that I could still make an effort and gradually improve. I decided to start practicing how to make even ordinary days a little more romantic. Although I couldn't surf due to my injury, it allowed me to find joy in other areas. Living life earnestly and slowly, it seems that anything can become simple and pure. Even just waking up early to make a hearty breakfast, reading a good book, taking a walk, gazing at the sea, or seeing a slight improvement in my ankle can bring me great happiness. This calendar is also part of that practice.
