Inspired by traditional patterns from Latvia, Northern Europe. They are finished with a charming, floral-like design. Crafted from 100% Shetland wool yarn, imported from the Shetland Islands. While not as soft as merino wool, it's pleasantly non-itchy and airy, resulting in a lightweight feel. This yarn develops a unique, felted texture with use, as the fibers naturally knit together. Before shipping, the mittens are pre-washed to enhance their soft, felted character. These sheep are raised in harsh natural environments in mountainous regions with rocky, barren land and sparse vegetation. This environment results in wool with long fibers, a mix of coarse, medium-fine, and short, stiff hairs, along with a higher proportion of colored fibers. In essence, it produces strong wool. Furthermore, wool has a characteristic crimp, or waviness, which varies by breed. British wool is distinguished by its abundant and dense crimp, even more so than that of ordinary sheep. A higher degree of crimp leads to yarn with superior sponginess, elasticity, and bulk. This inherent bulkiness allows the yarn to trap air effectively, creating a highly insulating, warm, and lightweight thread. Most importantly, its strength ensures excellent durability.
