Some might say, "Qingshui rice cakes are delicious!" or "The sunsets at Gaomei Wetlands are breathtaking." Initially, that was all we saw. But it is more than just a coastal city; it holds unimaginable culture, scenery, cuisine, and history. From prehistoric archaeological sites and remnants of shrines from the Japanese colonial era to nostalgic military dependents' villages, an incense-making industry facing near extinction, a couple dedicated to agricultural cultivation on the Dadu Plateau, the local rice cake culinary culture, and the historic Qingshui Train Station and Qingshui Elementary School – all tell countless unique stories. The land connects with the emotions of Qingshui residents. We initially thought it was merely a deep affection for the land that bore witness to a history of agricultural labor. However, beyond our imagination is the love Qingshui people have for their homeland, attracting many young people to return and seek new possibilities. Local organizations are also actively promoting community involvement, encouraging Qingshui residents to proactively understand their hometown's cultural and historical context. Rooted in its land, Qingshui is characterized by its tolerance and humility. Its people quietly cultivate their respective fields, never expecting widespread acclaim. With sheer persistence and hard work, they do what they believe is right. How often have you truly looked at your hometown? As landscapes change, do you sigh, "It's become like this! The old buildings have all been demolished," feeling a sense of melancholy and loss? In recent years, awareness of cultural heritage preservation in Taiwan has grown. Most people are beginning to realize the importance of preserving these historic buildings; they represent the developmental process of an entire era. Yet, the people of Qingshui have held this awareness for a long time. Perhaps many are unaware that Qingshui preserves a considerable amount of cultural assets and historical buildings.
